Mykita

Mykita is industrial design you can wear: featherweight stainless steel and its own 3D-printed MYLON, held by a patented screwless spiral hinge.

Made by hand in the MYKITA HAUS in Berlin with a low-waste, closed-loop process — light, resilient, repairable, and unmistakable once you know it.

Frequently asked

Where can I buy Mykita in South Africa?

Mykita is stocked at OPTIK, Shop SL24, Melrose Arch, Johannesburg — next door to Woolworths. Optik is a proudly authorised Mykita stockist, with every frame sourced directly from the house or its authorised distributor. Come in to try them on, or enquire on WhatsApp and we'll help you find the right pair.

Can I put my prescription in Mykita frames?

Yes — Mykita optical frames take a prescription. Optik partners with trusted specialist optical laboratories for precision lens manufacturing, while our team manages the measurements, lens selection, frame assessment and final quality check.

Why are Mykita frames so light?

The steel collections are folded from 0.5 mm stainless steel and held by a screwless spiral hinge, with no welds or screws to add weight — the lightest weigh around 12 grams.

What is MYLON?

MYLON is Mykita's own award-winning 3D-printed material — an ultra-light, resilient polyamide used for frames that would be hard to make any other way.

Can Mykita frames be repaired and adjusted?

Their screwless construction is built to be serviced rather than thrown away. We adjust and service them in person at OPTIK, and help arrange anything that needs brand parts.

MYKITA IS STOCKED AT OPTIK, MELROSE ARCH, JOHANNESBURG.
FITTINGS AND ADJUSTMENTS HAPPEN IN PERSON — THAT PART WE NEVER PUT ONLINE.
